The first day of The Festival features the most important hurdle race of the season, the Stan James Champion Hurdle.

Cheltenham Festival

The Cheltenham Festival is an annual event that takes place in March and usually coincides with St Patrick’s Day. The Irish connection is extended by the fact this is a highly popular event for Irish visitors, and it is one of the few races where British and Irish trained racehorses compete against each other. The festival features a number of Grade 1 races, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle and the World Hurdle. With a race day capacity of over 70,000, the Cheltenham Festival is renowned for its atmosphere and most notably the ‘Cheltenham Roar’.
