The Cheltenham Festival is an annual event that takes place in March and usually coincides with St Patrick’s Day. The Irish connection is extended by the fact this is a highly popular event for Irish visitors, and it is one of the few races where British and Irish trained racehorses compete against each other. The festival features a number of Grade 1 races, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle and the World Hurdle. With a race day capacity of over 65,000, the Cheltenham Festival is renowned for its atmosphere and most notably the ‘Cheltenham Roar’.
