Steve Harmison

Meet one of England's greatest ever fast bowlers, Steve Harmison in The Pegasus Lounge at Emirates Old Trafford!

A Brief Bio

Steve Harmison, born on October 23, 1978, in Ashington, Northumberland, is a former English fast bowler renowned for his pace, bounce, and ability to intimidate batsmen. Harmison made his Test debut in 2002 and quickly established himself as one of England’s most dangerous bowlers. Known for bowling speeds regularly exceeding 90 mph, he reached his peak in 2004, notably taking 7/12 against the West Indies in Jamaica — one of the best bowling performances in Test history.

A key figure in England’s 2005 Ashes-winning side, Harmison famously bowled the first delivery of the series, which set the tone for a historic triumph. Though capable of match-winning spells, Harmison struggled with consistency, especially in overseas conditions, and was sometimes plagued by self-doubt.

Over a 63-Test career, he claimed 226 wickets, complemented by 76 ODI wickets. Harmison retired from international cricket in 2009, later becoming a football manager and cricket commentator, where he continues to offer insights into the game.
