Meet Kevin Magnussen at the Formula 1® British Grand Prix
June 25, 2026There are Formula 1 drivers, and then there are Formula 1 characters. Kevin Magnussen – or K-Mag, as he’s affectionately known to fans across the world – is very much the latter. We’re incredibly excited to announce that the Danish racing icon will be joining us at The Pegasus Lounge, Silverstone Circuit, as a very special guest for the Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix.
This is one you won’t want to miss.
Who is Kevin Magnussen?
Born in Roskilde, Denmark, on 5 October 1992, Kevin Magnussen is a second-generation racing driver – his father, Jan Magnussen, is a former Formula One driver himself. Racing was never just a career for Kevin; it was practically written into his DNA.
Having come through the McLaren Young Driver Programme, Magnussen made his Formula 1 debut in 2014 alongside Jenson Button, and what a debut it was – he finished on the podium at the Australian Grand Prix, becoming the first Danish driver in history to claim an F1 podium. For a 21-year-old to announce himself on the world stage like that, at one of motorsport’s biggest teams, was nothing short of remarkable.

Over the years, Kevin Magnussen has become one of the most popular figures within motorsport
His F1 journey took him through three of the sport’s most recognisable names. During his nine seasons in Formula 1, Magnussen drove for McLaren, Renault, and Haas – racking up 185 starts and earning a reputation as one of the most tenacious, uncompromising racers on the grid. His meaty manoeuvres and elbows-out approach earned him a bad-boy reputation on track – something that only made the fans love him more.
The Haas chapter of his career became the one most associated with his name. He was a pillar of the American team across multiple stints, and in 2022 delivered arguably the most electric moment of his F1 career: taking Haas’ first-ever pole position at the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix, an achievement that sent shockwaves through the paddock and reminded the world exactly what K-Mag was capable of when given the right moment.
Magnussen concluded his Formula 1 career at the end of the 2024 season after a decade at the pinnacle of motorsport. But if you think retirement has slowed him down, you’d be very wrong.
Still Racing, Still Making Headlines
K-Mag’s competitive fire hasn’t dimmed one bit since leaving the F1 grid. In early December 2024, BMW M Motorsport announced Magnussen would become a works driver for their LMDh programme, putting him back in high-performance machinery in sportscar racing.
And then, in June 2026, the motorsport world got another reminder of just why Kevin Magnussen is such a compelling figure. Magnussen made his NASCAR Cup Series debut as part of Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 programme at the temporary circuit built at Naval Base Coronado in San Diego.
It didn’t take long for the fireworks to start. Magnussen was involved in several battles with Noah Gragson during the race, with tensions between the two drivers building over multiple laps. The situation escalated when contact between the pair sent Gragson into the wall, causing damage that forced him to retire from the race. After the chequered flag, things got even spicier – a PR rep ultimately had to step in to separate the two drivers as the confrontation continued in the paddock.

Remarkably, Gragson later revealed he had wanted to physically confront Magnussen before being told of the serious consequences that would follow.
Magnussen, characteristically, was unapologetic. He told reporters:
“He was playing a bit stupid out there. He could have had a good race, but he chose not to. I felt like I was in a fistfight the whole way through.” (Yahoo Sports)
Classic K-Mag. No filter, no drama – just an honest racing driver who refuses to take a backward step.
Whether you love him or find yourself on the opposite side of an argument with him in the paddock, you can’t deny it: Kevin Magnussen makes motorsport interesting!
