We are thrilled to share that Corinthian Sports’ Marketing Director, Liam Ackerman, recently accomplished an extraordinary feat, raising over £2,500 for Myeloma UK by trekking up the highest mountain in North Africa—Mount Toubkal. After six days of intense cycling and hiking, Liam reached the summit at an impressive 4,167 meters on Saturday morning, just in time to witness the sunrise over the majestic Atlas Mountains.

From Sea to Summit
Starting his adventure in Agadir, a coastal city in Morocco, Liam’s expedition was nothing short of grueling. Over three days, he cycled a total of 276 kilometers, pushing through steep climbs and rugged terrain. Following this, he transitioned to a challenging three-day hike, ultimately covering a staggering total distance of 322 kilometers and climbing 7,263 meters.
A deeper dive into the numbers behind Liam and Allan’s expedition to the summit of Mount Toubkal.
While physically demanding, Liam described the journey as “absolutely worth it.” His ultimate goal was to not only reach the top of Mt Toubkal but also to raise funds for Myeloma UK, a cause close to his heart.
A Cause Worth Climbing For
Liam’s motivation to raise funds for Myeloma UK stems from a personal connection to the cause. The organization provides essential support and research funding for myeloma, a type of blood cancer that affects thousands of people in the UK every year. Through his efforts, Liam has already surpassed the £2,500 fundraising mark, expressing deep gratitude for the generosity of all who contributed!
Liam was joined by his former British Army colleague, Allan Whittaker, on his journey to the summit of Mount Toubkal.
Liam wasn’t alone in this endeavor. His expedition partner, Allan Whittaker, a former British Army colleague, joined him on the challenge. The pair both acknowledged just how transformative the experience was, remarking on the incredible beauty of the Moroccan landscape and the camaraderie that got them through the toughest moments.
A Glimpse into Liam’s Future Adventures
For Liam, this experience wasn’t just a one-off challenge. He hopes that his trek will inspire future Surf2Summitexpeditions, blending physical endurance with charitable fundraising.
Liam said of his journey:
“It definitely wasn’t a walk in the park, but it was absolutely worth it!”
He envisions this trek as the beginning of more to come, pushing boundaries and raising funds for important causes!
How You Can Help
Though the journey has ended, the opportunity to support Myeloma UK remains open. If you’re inspired by Liam’s incredible effort and would like to contribute, you can still donate to this worthy cause. Every donation helps make a difference in the lives of those affected by myeloma.
