What is the Autumn Nations Series?

If you’re new to international Rugby, the Autumn Nations Series is an annual set of fixtures featuring national teams from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres going head to head. These fixtures, often called the “Autumn Internationals,” have been a significant event in the rugby calendar since 2021.

Unlike traditional tours, the Autumn Nations Series is more structured, with a series of test matches where European teams host the Southern Hemisphere sides as well as other invitees, such as Japan and Fiji.

Initially, the matches were largely a series of friendlies but these encounters have quickly become a showcase of international rugby rivalry, as the Southern Hemisphere nations try to impose their strength, whilst the European teams seek to challenge their dominance.

Where can I Watch or Listen to it?

In the UK, you can watch the 2024 Autumn Nations Series on TNT Sports, which holds exclusive broadcast rights for all 21 matches. If you prefer streaming the action, the matches will also be available on discovery+. Both of these services require an active subscription.

On radio, BBC Radio 5 Live will air coverage of both the 2024 and 2025 Autumn Rugby Internationals as part of a new two-year audio rights deal. BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra, BBC Sounds, BBC Sport website and app is set to bring listeners every home nation game as well as France v New Zealand.
