Sir Alastair Cook is an English cricketing legend and one of the greatest Test match openers in history. Born on December 25, 1984, in Gloucester, Cook made his international debut in 2006 and went on to become England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer, amassing 12,472 runs in 161 matches. Known for his solid technique, immense concentration, and resilience, Cook scored 33 Test centuries and was instrumental in some of England’s most significant victories, including Ashes triumphs.

As England’s longest-serving Test captain (2010-2016), Cook led the team to memorable series wins, including their first Test series victory in India in 28 years (2012). His career was marked by remarkable consistency, including an astonishing 159 consecutive Test matches.

Cook retired from international cricket in 2018 with a century in his final Test innings. His services to cricket were recognized with a knighthood in 2019, cementing his legacy as one of England’s finest and most respected cricketers.
