Bryan Habana

Meet former South African winger, Bryan Habana, in the Pegasus Lounge for the Autumn Nations Series!

A Brief Bio

Bryan Habana is a celebrated South African rugby legend, renowned for his speed, agility, and try-scoring prowess. Born on June 12, 1983, in Johannesburg, Habana initially played as a scrum-half before switching to wing, where he would become one of the most feared finishers in the game. He burst onto the international scene in 2004, scoring a try on his debut for the Springboks against England.

Over the next 12 years, Habana would amass 124 caps and 67 tries, becoming South Africa’s all-time top try-scorer and the second-highest try-scorer in rugby union history.

A pivotal player in South Africa’s 2007 Rugby World Cup victory, Habana was named World Rugby Player of the Year that same season. Known for his lightning pace, he famously matched a cheetah’s speed in a promotional race. Habana’s club career included stints with the Blue Bulls, Western Province, Toulon, and the Stormers, where he won domestic titles and a European Champions Cup. Habana retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and sportsmanship, cementing his place among rugby’s all-time greats.
