Johnnie Beattie is a former Scottish international rugby player known for his dynamic skill set and strong presence on the field. Born on April 21, 1985, in Glasgow, Scotland, Beattie came from a family of athletes—his father, John Beattie, also represented Scotland in rugby. He started his professional career with Glasgow Warriors in 2004, where he quickly established himself as a powerful back-row player. Known for his agility and ball-handling skills, he earned his first Scotland cap in 2006 and went on to secure over 30 caps throughout his international career.

Beattie’s breakthrough came during the 2010 Six Nations Championship, where his performances garnered widespread acclaim, helping Scotland secure a famous victory over Ireland. His career took him abroad in 2012 when he joined Montpellier in France’s Top 14 league, further enhancing his game with a focus on forward play and adaptability. Beattie later played for other French clubs, including Castres and Bayonne, before retiring in 2018.

Today, he is recognized for his contributions to Scottish rugby and works as a rugby commentator and analyst.
