The festival will be divided into six main categories, tracing the evolution of top-tier motorsport from early Grand Prix racing to today’s high-tech, global phenomenon. The categories will be:

Prologue

Prologue’ delivers an exclusive deep dive into the prestigious origins of top-tier motorsport, spotlighting the Manufacturers’ World Championship (1925 – 1927) and the legendary European Drivers’ Championship of the 1930s. Both series, officially sanctioned by the AIACR – the esteemed predecessor to today’s FIA – set the stage for the modern era of Grand Prix racing.

Pioneers

‘Pioneers’ will celebrate the bold origins of the Formula 1 World Championship, spotlighting the legendary machines and visionary engineering that defined the sport’s groundbreaking first decade. This evocative showcase will transport guests back to a golden era of innovation and bravery – where icons were born, rivalries ignited, and the foundations of modern F1 were laid. These early trailblazers didn’t just race; they set the tone for a global phenomenon that continues to captivate the world.

Innovators

‘Innovators’ will celebrate the visionary minds who redefined the boundaries of what’s possible in Formula 1. These pioneers of design, technology, and performance relentlessly pushed the envelope, challenging convention and embracing bold new philosophies to keep the sport at the cutting edge of automotive excellence. From groundbreaking engineers to daring team principals, each left an indelible mark on F1’s relentless pursuit of progress. While not all found lasting success, every one of them shared an audacious spirit and an uncompromising drive to shape the future of the sport. This is a tribute to those who dared to dream bigger – and deliver.

Champions

Champions’ will be a spectacular centrepiece of the 2025 Festival of Speed, delivering an extraordinary celebration of Formula 1’s most iconic drivers, legendary teams, and history-defining machines. In this unforgettable tribute, the Hill will come alive with the presence and power of the sport’s most revered names – a gathering of greatness like never before.

Over the past 75 years, only 34 drivers have ascended to the pinnacle as World Champions, and just 15 teams have earned the coveted Constructors’ crown since its introduction in 1958. In 2025, these legends will take centre stage, with a dazzling array of championship-winning cars and era-defining figures transforming the Hill into a living timeline of F1 excellence. A must-see moment for every fan and a defining part of the Formula 1 takeover at Goodwood.

Underdogs

‘Underdogs’ will shine a spotlight on those remarkable F1 champions whose grit, resilience, and sheer ingenuity led to some of the most unforgettable moments in motorsport history. While the dominant teams and legendary drivers rightly earn their place in the record books, there’s something undeniably compelling – almost poetic – about the challengers who defied the odds. These are the stories that stir the soul: daring drives, bold strategies, and the relentless pursuit of glory against seemingly insurmountable odds. It’s a celebration of spirit over circumstance, and a tribute to the brave few who turned ambition into legacy.

Current F1 Teams

Of course, no celebration of this magnitude at Goodwood would be complete without the presence of today’s ‘Current F1 Teams‘ – the beating heart of the sport’s relentless evolution. These modern pioneers embody the pinnacle of performance and innovation, constantly redefining the limits of what’s possible in motorsport. With breathtaking precision and an obsessive dedication to detail, they chase every fraction of a second, crafting machines that are as technically exquisite as they are ferociously fast. Their participation promises to elevate the Festival to new heights, offering fans an unparalleled glimpse into the cutting edge of F1 excellence.
