What is the Guinness Six Nations?

Even if you’re not a newcomer to the world of international rugby, there’s plenty to learn about the Six Nations.

Dating back to the late 19th century, the Six Nations is one of the most prestigious international rugby tournaments in the world. Initially known as the Home Nations Championship, it began in 1883 with England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales as the founding members. France joined the competition in 1910, expanding it to five teams and renaming it the Five Nations Championship. Italy was added in 1995, resulting in the modern Six Nations format.

The format has evolved over the years, with changes to points systems, match schedules, and tournament rules. However, the spirit of intense competition has remained central with historic rivalries built over decades, if not centuries. Notably, England vs. Scotland, otherwise known as The Calcutta Cup, which is one of the oldest and most iconic in rugby and England vs. France, otherwise known as “Le Crunch”, which has become a cultural phenomenon, extending far beyond rugby and symbolizing the historical and political dynamics between the two nations.

Who’s Playing, When and Where?

Kicking off on January 31st 2025, France will host Wales at the Stade de France for the opening game of the tournament. With Ireland winning the past two and out for a historic third straight title, can anyone stop them? Here’s all the fixtures:
